Arturo Pacheco Altamirano (1905-1978): The Chilean painter was born in Chillán, where he began to study architecture and then gave up to devote himself autodidactic to his true calling, painting. In 1929, he settled in Santiago and began to exhibit his work. Travels to Brazil, Peru and the United States, combined with exhibitions, followed from 1939 on. In 1952 Pacheco Altamiro was appointed cultural attaché at the Chilean Embassy in Paris. In his paintings he prefers maritime scenes such as ports, beach and fishing scenes.
